You there boy!, tuck
your shirt in and belly up to the back markers!. Lighthouse were at Suprapruek
for the monthly staple ford competition and leaky skin test! Boy was it hot, how
hot?...I had to wring out my undies twice in the front nine!...and
wrinkled undies play havoc my long game!
We had nineteen
golfers start and lost Gary Mc Pherson to heat or heart trouble on the 10 hole,
actually he had just 5 putted the 10th and had the good sense to
collapse on his caddie and be carried in! The good doctor Heineken was on
hand and after several cans Gary as Unfit enough to drive
home!
It was a stable ford
competition from the yellow tee's and heat, rain, and damp undies
all added up to a very poor showing for most of us. Audel, thinking it was
a stroke play competition arrived late and started from the fourth hole hoping
that a few less holes would put him in contention...that boys got
initiative!...shame about staple ford format needing more points not less
strokes!!... I played the 19th at Suprapruek and still didn't break 30!
Crocodile Cain moaned about the long tee's, long grass, no run, speed of
the greens, and just about everything else but still managed to get his
name on a few near pins and briefly on the long drive!
Prizes;
Bell Water must be
cleaning out the 2003 closet or Keith's briefcase for they came up
with not one but two boxes of balls, thanks, and hard little balls they are
too!!!, just kidding!
Near
Pin:
Hole 2: Tony
moany Cain, well done
Hole 6: Virgin Flag!
(that's right no one won the million dollar trophy!)
Hole
14: Audel Delphanis, well done
Hole
16: Darren Bates, (final round in Thailand...except
for cowboy last night!)
Long Drive: Khun
Tee, (we did have the storm front just behind us but this was still a big
tonk!)
Winners.
Without Steve Harle
to hurl drinks down his throat, Danny Doolan was sober by the
18th and also in 2nd place with 33 points. Well done, (It allot
easier when you've only got one set of numbers to add up eh!) But the
winner; front runner from the first tee and still complaining about the length
of the course; (from where I played it was the width that was hell!),
Tony Cain carded 35 points and a solid
win. Scoff all you want but that's a good result on the day...in
fact you could probably cut his handicap for that result!
The million dollar
prize was never in any serious danger, and survived to to increase to a tidy pot
of THB.3,100.00 for next month. That should bring out a few
sharks!!!
Thanks to all who
played and to our new members, Peter Bell and David
Watkinson.
Next month we are at
Bangsai on June 12th at 8.15am for a stroke
play competition! Look forward to seeing more players and bring
yer gel pack undies!
